In case you’re interested in getting to know the institution’s history, check out the Main Library entrance. Historical books and documents are on display featuring the Graduate School’s evolution to today, as well as highlighting some important graduates and some important buildings on campus.
In 1910 the University of Georgia Graduate School was formally established. In the previous years, a very limited number of courses of postgraduate status were offered under the supervision of a committee. Dr. Willis Henry Bocock saw the birth of the Graduate School as its first dean. Dr. Bobock was followed by Roswell Powell Stephens, George Hugh Boyd, Gerald Boone Huff, Thomas Hillyer Whitehead, Hardy Malcom Edwards, Jr, John Clarkson Dowling, Gordhan L. Patel and, finally, present-day dean Maureen Grasso.
