Love the UGA Grad School because it loves its international students!
Even though UGA has some strong Southern traditions (and great ones at that!), it is still accepting and accommodating to those who are trying to make a life in a new country, a hard thing to do.
The International Student Life Office is dedicated to internationalizing the UGA campus and student body and works to create a welcoming environment to any and all students.
A regular event to check out is Coffee Hour, hosted every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Ballroom. A different country hosts each event offering finger foods from around the world and, of course, coffee.
What better way to bond?!
BUT mark your calendars for Saturday, April 10th. From noon to 5 p.m. in downtown Athens you will find the International Street Festival. Attending is a must, but you can also volunteer, host a street fest display or perform at the festival.
If you are an international student (or not – anyone is welcome) looking for support and a community, check out the International Student Life website: http://www.uga.edu/isl/
